This text examines how, early in her career, Margaret Arden became fascinated by the problem of the gap between theory and practice. As a result she believed the only thing she could rely upon when reflecting on her work was her sense of the truth of what was going on in the consulting room. This text considers Margaret Arden’s belief that there is such a thing as psychic truth, a concept which can be found in all religions as well as psychoanalysis.
